When was the last time you saw an hour of some sensible news on TV? ummmmmm..well you will not be able to find an answer even after reading this complete post.The other day during IPL season 2 I saw a news on TV which inspired me to write this post. They were talking about Shilpa Shetty taking revenge from SRK because he had thrown her from top of a building in the movie bazigaar. And now they were relating to a match between Rajasthan Royals(Shilpa's team) and KKR(SRK's team). All this while I was wondering where do people get these stupid ideas from? I am pretty sure creative writing back in school doesn't help them.
"Rakhi ka swaymwar" or whatever it is is surely a news on the news channels these days. WHY? is my question. Do we have lesser issues to deal with that the media is busy showing what is going on in some stupid shows on other TV channels?
India TV is yet another sensational news channel. I do not watch it but it appears as if they have cameras on every street of the nation, even in Taliban. Everyday they get some sensational news and create a havoc among us. Particle accelerator created such confusion last year and all the news channels were happy to announce that they were the 1st to create awareness(confusion) of the Armageddon. After this news a law came up that a governing body can cancel a channel's license if it shows news which is unfit for the audience but this law can be used by the government to hide all its wrong doings.
The only news channels which do not deviate from their purpose of news showing are the business news channels as they have stock markets to discuss on the week days and weekends goes in analyzing the week and predicting the next week.
I just want to end this post by saying won't it be better if the media people used their own brain before showing the news to the audience and it would be better if the government give the tag of entertainment news channels to some of the channels.
very well said...Although digesting the daily dose of ‘breaking news’ is a task in itself, it is even more intolerable to hear each channel claiming that they broke the news first. Will these channels ever understand what we need is simple, sensitive news presentation? Not a single TV channel sacrifices its ad revenue no matter what happens to the nation or the world at large. Not a single TV channel is ready to let go of the Bollywood stars giggling into its cameras uttering the usual “this movie is different” stuff. Be it tsunami, earthquake, or bomb blasts, everything is turned into a comic show.....kb sudhrenge???

agreed dude .... its been a long time dis shit has been goin on in d news channels .. difficult 2 find sum meaningful news ... all d time u'll c sum ojha tantrik n all dat stuff .. n ven it cums 2 cricket d news z neva concerned vid what happened in d match .. u'll find hours of news on all dat crappy saas-bahu stuff ... n ven dere z an accident causing death or sumthin like dat u'll find dat it'll get around 15 mins coverage .... its gud 2 c u r concerned bout it .... let all dose news channels read dis blog .... so dat dey replace d shit in dere brains vid sum sense
ReplyDeleteWell, I think you are partially right in saying they show stupid stuff most of the times, but I beg to differ on the fact that they are all stupid.. infact all channels flash sensible news.. But as they say, there is always a right time for a thing to commence, likewise each channel has a designated time for discussing the social issues, debating on some topics and entertaining news... also to add to the list they have special shows based on whats happening on other channels too.

Each of these news channels broadcasts such serials that are purely for entertainment purposes... besides this, another major factor is too maintain continuity.. they have to show some or the other thing on TV, they can not go on repeating the same news for eternity without any major additions to it, infact they do repeat the news even now and I bet you(generalization) are one of the first to flip the channel and surf another one..believing it might show something which the other might have missed in the same news coverage....
think about it,,, why do we even need so many channels to show the same stuff,, why cant we have a single channel repeating the same news all throughout the day... I vaguely remember..when I was quite small..all my family members were regular viewers of DD news which was flashed twice a day and we used to eagerly wait for it.. remember the intro music piece.. i really liked that one.. ;) and also the Deaf and Dumb news..(no offense) I even watched that too.. :)
:D .. coming back to news channels of today.. they are so many of them..you cant even count them on your fingers.. :P borrow some from the person next to you.. ;) See the bright side of it,,, so many people are being employed through this medium... I am sure you must be having journalist friends.. ;) yaad aaya..my CAT interview yeah..I know this post of mine might ultimately lead to a debate over here.. For and against..but I am exercising my right to freedom of speech... :P :P so OMG... m sorry I think I have written a Blog post myself.. lolllzz
